This book is a good, quick read that packs a punch; I love the simplicity and clarity it presents.

Centred on change, “Who moved my cheese” challenges readers to think differently about change and explains how this mindset shift can equip us for success. Through the central story we learn not to allow fear, particularly fear of change, to hold us back.

What you are afraid of is never as bad as what you imagine. The fear you let build up in your mind is worse than the situation that actually exists.

This book is quotable quotes galore, some of which will definitely be posters in my future home. The quote above exemplifies this and is one that I have often found to be true in my little life experience. As an individual, I have tried to practise “shooting my shot” in real life because often times, you lose nothing by putting yourself forward for opportunities.

Being one of the first non-fiction books I’ve read in my foray into adulthood, I loved the real world scenarios and applications at the end of the book as they allow you to understand how to discuss the book in different scenarios.

The biggest inhibitor to change lies within yourself, and that nothing gets better until you change.

Despite this being a short book centred on supposedly “obvious” principles it does well because it teaches life lessons through story-telling. We are often quick to place judgement on others when, in reality, we are guilty of the same actions we condemn.

Whilst reading, I found myself pushing certain characters to take risks but had to reflect on which characters, or negative behaviours of characters, I was guilty of behaving similarly to. I would certainly encourage other readers to also make time after reading this book to reflect on their attitude to change and fear.

  1. Wonderful review. I totally agree you! I also like the fact that it teaches one to look out for change, so as not to get caught unawares.
