Heart and Hustle was a great read full of useful tips for life and for business. Having been a long time follower of Patricia Bright on YouTube, I rushed to pick up this book as I hoped it would have her huge YouTube personality and more of her life story. Sadly, whilst the tone of the book was friendly and conversational, I felt like it missed a bit of Patricia Bright’s warmth. Although  I loved that there were a few stories of her life and upbringing, I personally wanted more. Does this come from a sense of entitlement based on how much she shares on YouTube?

When it comes to life, it’s never a straight line – it’s more like a zigzag! Think of every experience, good and bad, as a stepping stone to the next opportunity.

On the hustle side of things, this book is a business guide that is a must read for anyone looking to run an online business particularly those in the influencer/ social media space.  Patricia offers tips for building your brand and an online presence which she can definitely talk on as she has skin in the game. The chapter on finance was really strong but a few of the others felt repetitive and choppy- hopping from one thing to another.

This book is  definitely one for my bookshelf because I think having a digital business or presence of some sort is needed in this present world. I also loved the little action pages that push you to take action straight away as  this makes the book very practical.

Don’t let anything about yourself be an excuse for not going as far as you could.

The quote above really stood out for me because I think it fully exemplifies Patrica Bright and what she stands for.  I also felt this quote was fitting for heart and hustle. The book finishes off with general life advice of which the quote is one. Nothing spectacular or drastically life-altering but sound enough that it does not hurt to have it repeated.

Overall, I give this book 4 stars because unless you’re looking to break into the influencer/social media game, the book can feel like it lacks direct application for you. However, it more that fulfils its job for its target audience. Personally, I think this book was definitely full of hustle but could do with a bit more heart.
