To anyone expecting a close retelling of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, this book is not that. ‘These violent delights’ is a loose, loooooose, l-o-o-s-e (have I said LOOSE?) homage to the tale of Romeo and Juliet. Nevertheless, it is a refreshing blend of romance, mystery, history AND fantasy.

SUCH A FUN AGE by Kiley Reid
‘Such a Fun Age’ is an entertaining read that starts with a bang! Readers are quickly presented with an unpleasant scene that serves to capture our attention and set the scene for the rest of the book. Just JJ’s MY SISTER, THE SERIAL KILLER by Oyinkan Braithwaite
This book captures the dysfunctional relationship a nurse (Korede) has with her younger sister (Ayoola) who is a serial killer. Now, although this sounds fairly dark and unsettling, Korede’s morbidly funny narrative makes this book surprising entertaining. In fact, the satirical nature of her narrative completely changes the tone of the book from a thriller into an amusing beach read.
