Heart and Hustle was a great read full of useful tips for life and for business. Having been a long time follower of Patricia Bright on YouTube, I rushed to pick up this book as I hoped it would have her huge YouTube personality and more of her life story. Sadly, whilst the tone of the book was friendly and conversational, I felt like it missed a bit of Patricia Bright’s warmth. Although I loved that there were a few stories of her life and upbringing, I personally wanted more.

CHAIN OF GOLD by Cassandra Clare
While I have not read all Cassandra Clare’s books on the Shadowhunters world, I remember reading a few books from The Mortal Instruments series when I was in secondary school. For me, reading this book was a way to reconnect with my younger self to see if what I enjoy reading has changed.

HOUSE OF EARTH AND BLOOD by Sarah J. Maas
Props to Sarah J. Maas for trying something new, but… This was such a let down! The storyline starts off a little slow and generally remains that way for most of the book as the main characters face a series of dead ends. Things finally pick up towards the ends as we are hit with several twists that I really did not see coming.
THIS IS GOING TO HURT: Secret Diaries of a Junior Doctor by Adam Kay
In this painfully funny book, Adam Kay shares tales from his experience training as a junior doctor for the NHS. I laughed, cringed and held back tears; but mainly I laughed. Adam’s writing style is absolutely comical and witty. Even the constant commentaries and explanations in the footnotes were not annoying!

AN AMERICAN MARRIAGE by Tayari Jones
On the surface, this book appears to be a book about race – A young, newly-wed black man is wrongfully convicted of a crime we know he did not commit (not a spoiler, the blurb gives this away) or so it seems.

CIRCE by Madeline Miller
Circe, pronounced – Sur-see; Not circ or circle! Now that I have gotten my pettiness out of the way, let’s talk about the book. I bought this book because of all the hype surrounding it and its long residence on the Goodreads’ Most Read This Week list. This book also had so many positive reviews, so of course I was really excited to start reading.
