I was quickly drawn in by the immersive writing and early action in this book. The high-stakes conflicts and moral dilemmas that unfold really pushed the characters to their limits and kept me engaged. Even though the foreshadowing makes it obvious that at least one character would survive, I remained fully invested in seeing how the tale would come together. The lighter romantic subplot was also appreciated, though its development felt inconsistent with the groundwork laid in the previous books. While the dense political manoeuvring across two realms occasionally slowed the pace, the explosive climax was worth the buildup and allowed for a satisfying conclusion.

For a similar finale filled with political intrigue and high-stakes action, I recommend Faithbreaker by Hannah Kaner. A Drop of Corruption by Robert Jackson Bennett is another great recommendation that explores similar themes of justice and the corrupting nature of power.
