A casual writing style packed with extensive descriptions brings this story to life and expands the worldbuilding. However, I felt the excessive details made the story less engaging, as it caused a lot of telling and little showing.

STAR BRINGER by Tracy Wolff and Nina Croft

As someone who doesn’t read much sci-fi, I was glad that the writing style was simple and easy to understand. Enough details are provided to bring the story to life, and multiple points of view (POVs) give the full scope of what key characters encounter and their emotions. Only the worldbuilding made this aspect of the story underwhelming, as it is presented in information dumps at the start and then poorly developed over the course of the story.

FABLE by Adrienne Young

This story is brought to life with a picturesque writing style and beautiful prose. A unique, gritty world with fascinating character types is also nicely established, though the scope is relatively small.

The simple, emotive writing flows beautifully with vivid details that enrich the raw storyline. Besides this, transitions between past and present events are smoothly executed without affecting the controlled pace of the story.

As expected from this series, the writing style is simple yet rich – smoothly bringing the story to life. The fascinating world and magic are also nicely expanded through the grand political intrigue that takes place.

THE REVELATION OF LIGHT AND DARK by Sawyer Bennett

From the start, a palpable atmosphere of foreboding and mystery kept the story engaging. Equally intriguing was the concealed paranormal world gradually established throughout the story. However, I struggled slightly with the overly descriptive writing style, especially since there is lots of filler information, and much is told, not shown.
