Attention ladies and gents! It is my utter pleasure to detail my thoughts on this impressive novel called ‘The Murder on the links’. This mystery masterpiece, written by the Queen of Crime herself, is clearly well thought out and skillfully executed.
There’s no denying that ‘All the Stars and Teeth’ is an entertaining, action-packed read. Even so, it could have been far more thrilling if it were not stuffed with various tropes associated with most young adult (YA) fantasy books. These tropes make the storyline painfully average and predictable.
‘Such a Fun Age’ is an entertaining read that starts with a bang! Readers are quickly presented with an unpleasant scene that serves to capture our attention and set the scene for the rest of the book. Throw in Kiley Reid’s simple yet picturesque writing style, and, unsurprisingly, I was enthralled after reading a few chapters.
‘The Alchemist’ is a book I would recommend all young adults read whilst transitioning to becoming full-fledged “adults”. I would also recommend it to anyone going through a mid, quarter, or any stage, life crisis as it might help with finding your place in the world.
Although this book is not the biggest I have ever read, I can’t help but feel proud of myself for finishing this gigantic 830 paged beauty! Despite the high ratings and attention this book received, I was not completely sold by its premise before I started reading it. So colour me surprised, when I found myself completely enthralled just a few pages into this book.
The hype surrounding this book all boils down to a very well written blurb for which I must first congratulate Adrian. It is very captivating and draws you in.
“You are not the first. And you will certainly not be the last.”
However, readers must be prepared for the uphill trudge that is the first half of this book.
Now I understand why the blurb of this book is so vague and enigmatic – It thrives on mystery and twists. Knowing or guessing just one of the many twists could ruin the whole story. Greer and Sarah expertly weave a web of half-truths which lead readers to interpret the storyline inaccurately.
