The picturesque writing style smoothly creates an atmospheric narrative and setting. Alternating chapters between past and current events are also skillfully used to deliver crucial backstories and add to the building tension across the story.

THIEVES’ GAMBIT by Kayvion Lewis
Though the casual writing style and modern references initially seemed simplistic, it quickly grew on me as picturesque descriptions and details brought the action-packed story to life.
TWAS THE NIGHTSHIFT BEFORE CHRISTMAS by Adam Kay
The dry humour I loved in This is Going to Hurt is once again woven into the anecdotes in this book, though some punchlines fall flat. The cleverly written stories also have just enough details and context to make them clear and easy to follow.

FORGED BY BLOOD by Ehigbor Okosun
The first-person narrative and smooth, descriptive prose made immersing myself in this story really easy. I was also fascinated by the rich world filled with diverse creatures, magic and culture, even though I wished it had been better developed and incorporated into the story.

THE BATTLE DRUM by Saara El-Arifi
Once again, a rich writing style with multiple points of view effortlessly brings this world and story to life. The intricate worldbuilding within this blew me away as it was gradually uncovered, layer by layer, like an onion. I may not have understood every detail, but I was deeply impressed by how every aspect, from the blood colours to the land, magic and creatures, was skillfully expanded.
THAT MOMENT WHEN by Mo Gillian

GOOD BAD GIRL by Alice Feeney
I completely adored the rich, quotable prose and chapter-ending cliffhangers used in this book. Although I struggled slightly with the constantly shifting points of view (POVs), these are clearly marked and cleverly used to increase the scope and complexity of the story.
THE LIGHT WE CARRY by Michelle Obama
The conversational writing style incorporates creative metaphors and captivating stories to maximize the impact of the content. Repetition is also used to drive home key concepts, and a positive, uplifting atmosphere keeps the book engaging throughout.
