The rich writing style is filled with clever metaphors and descriptions that seem borderline excessive but help establish an entertaining magical world. In contrast, I found the narrative underwhelming and monotonous even though it seemed fitting for the historical setting.

BLOODMARKED by Tracy Deonn
Between the Order, the powers and the war, I was once again stunned by the intricate and creative world Tracy Deonn creates. Not even the blocks of information used to deliver the worldbuilding or my slight confusion around the intricacies of the powers could detract from the incredible world.

The detailed writing brings each story within this book to life. Even with the heavy topics mentioned, the narrative remained entertaining as a light-hearted and casual tone was maintained throughout. While the narrative is also slightly disjointed, the additional information provided by numerous tangents made this book more elaborate and compelling.

Not only is the worldbuilding filled with intricate lore, but it also touches on serious themes such as racism and slavery.

KING OF FOOLS by Amanda Foody
This design is almost identical to that of the preceding book, Ace of Shades. While there are a few pattern changes, the main difference is in the colour scheme. The striking red colour of the previous design has been replaced with a subtle blue that makes this cover less eye-catching and appealing.
